    Reason 1 - Bunions This refers to the swelling of the joint at the base of the big toe. A common genetic condition, it is treated through surgery sometimes. Initially, the patient is generally directed towards orthotics, splinting, and padding. This helps to reduce the pain.

    When the bottom of your foot becomes inflamed and painful, there is immense pain in the heels. This generally occurs in athletes, obese, and middle-aged people.     This is a condition where the toe is bent permanently at the middle joint. It is caused due to the imbalance in the tendons and can occur in people of any age group. Though children can get over this condition, there are others who require splinting, orthotics, and surgery.

  • Tips to Treat and Prevent Foot Pain

    Tip 1 - Wear shoes which suit your feet type. You could get an orthopedic shoes prescribed by your podiatrist. Make sure you do not walk without any shoes. Use ice on your feet, except if you are suffering from any circulatory problems or diabetes.

  • Tip 2 - RICE rule

    When you first notice your foot pain, perform the RICE aid. Rest - This will permit your tissues to heal and avoid any further pressure on them. If you cannot walk easily, then put on crutches. Ice - Use ice cubes from home wrapped in a handkerchief. Avoid using commercial ones, as they are too cold. If you continue to feel pain and the pain is amplified by application, then do not apply. Compression and Elevation will allow your tissues to rest and not get negatively affected by any movement.

  • Tip 3 - Physical exercise

    Many a times, foot pain is also a consequence of sedentary lifestyle. Patients are advised to take up exercises which will gradually reduce the pain and also make your muscles stronger.

  • Tip 4 - Shoe design and fit

    To prevent any issues of compression and friction, use proper footwear along with correct socks and lacing combinations. You can also use accessories like cushions, heel pads, and arch supports. Make sure you also replace your shoes every 6 months.

  • Tip 5 - Daily care

    Make sure you wash and dry your feet daily. Check your feet for any bruises or cuts. Ensure that you do not go barefoot. Cut your toenails regularly. Wear shoes which fit your feet appropriately. The shoes should be chosen depending on the type of your lifestyle. Alternate between shoes, so that you distribute the pressure over a range of muscles and joints rather than sticking to a particular type of shoe and in the bargain only put pressure on certain specific muscles and joints.
