Water is needed for metabolism. Metabolism is a process in which a series of chemical reactions take place to maintain life. Lack of water disrupts this process.
Water soluble toxins are excreted through urine. In chronic/ longstanding dehydration the urine gets concentrated, it does not filter salts. Such salts get accumulated as stones.
Water facilitates digestion and prevents constipation. When the body is dehydrated, it pulls water from stools to maintain water balance. This results in constipation/difficulty in passing stools.
Generally people drink less water than they should. Sometimes thirst is mistaken to be hunger and then we tend to eat more. Drinking sufficient water makes us feel full. Eat water-rich food like fruits and vegetables. It makes us feel full for a long time.
Adequate water intake prevents chapped lips, dry skin and wrinkles resulting thereby.
